My name is Dr. Laci Schaible, and I’m a small animal veterinarian, entrepreneur and author. Always an animal lover, I grew up in East Texas caring for a menagerie of dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, chickens and birds. Eager to actualize my dream to become a veterinarian, I graduated from Tulane University with honors at the age of 19. Shortly after, I graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine at the age of 23, becoming one of the youngest trained veterinarians in the U.S.
Over the past two decades, my career path has taken me from the more traditional role of associate veterinarian to clinic owner, zoo veterinarian and founder of multiple startups. I’m proud to use my skill set to advocate for progressive change in the veterinary industry, including effectively advocating for widespread availability of generic and affordable prescriptions for pets, lowering the barriers to care by founding the world’s first Internet-based veterinary telehealth service and advancing the current practice management systems available to veterinary teams.
With a degree from Wake Forest University School of Law in addition to my veterinary school training, I bring niche knowledge and experience, serving as an advisor on a number of boards for start-up companies within the veterinary field. I also provide consulting services for a range of companies, from zoos and shelters to the ACVIM and ACVS. The emotional and mental health of my veterinary colleagues is a cause near and dear to my heart.
My leading passion remains clinical practice as a small animal veterinarian, where I cherish my relationships with clients and their pets. A resident of Sarasota, Florida, I enjoy sailing, beach walks, home improvement projects and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
