I have been in practice for over 20 years, but I don’t feel that old! Prior to my start in veterinary medicine, I was earning a PhD in Molecular Cell Biology at Washington University School of Medicine. I adopted a dog rescued from a Missouri puppy mill and decided to change careers. After graduating from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, I started my veterinary career in Woodbridge, NJ.
Over the years, I realized many pet parents wanted in-home care for their pets, so I started my own housecall veterinary practice: Metro East Home Vet Care in Illinois. I have since been featured in the local news three times for my unique practice style, earned my certification in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture and, in 2019, opened a vet clinic to accompany my housecall practice. My clinic was the first in the St. Louis area to be Low Stress Handling® certified. I wanted my clinic to feel like home, so it contains couches and ottomans instead of exam tables.
In addition to running a successful veterinary practice, I was also the co-host of a national veterinary podcast, Veterinary Advice, Animal News & Views, for 5 years. My veterinary articles have been published in “The Bark” magazine and Web-DVM.
When not consumed with veterinary medicine, I spend time with my 5 rescued dogs (all with various abilities) and am an avid birdwatcher, international traveler, nature photographer and native plant gardener.
