Hill's® Prescription Diet®
r/d® Canine Weight Loss-Low Calorie with Chicken

Weight reduction for overweight dogs.

Almost 50% of the pet population is overweight. Even a little extra weight can lead to serious health problems. Extra weight can reduce play time, impact mobility and affect the general health of your dog. Factors contributing to weight gain include age, lack of exercise and overfeeding.

Many commercial pet foods are loaded with salt and fat, which improve the taste but also have dramatic effects on your dog's weight and overall health. Along with frequent physical exercise, choosing the right food plays a very important role in helping dogs reach their proper weight.

At Hill's, nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutritin especially formulated to reduce dogs' body fat by 22% in two months, while keeping him or her satisfied.

Daily Feeding Guide:

Important Feeding Information

  • These amounts are a starting point only. Determine the amount to feed based on TARGET WEIGHT rather than the current weight. Your dog may need less or more food to safely lose weight. Adjust as needed. If you are unsure or if you are not feeding this product for weight loss, ask your veterinarian.
  • Mix increasing amounts of your dog's new food with decreasing amounts of the old food over a 7-day period.
  • Prescription Diet® formulas are available in a wide variety of dry foods and treats for your dog's unique needs and canned foods with delicious flavors your dog will love. When using with canned food and treats, decrease the amount of dry food to avoid overfeeding. Supplementation with other foods or treats is unnecessary and may decrease the effectiveness of the food.
  • Keep fresh water available at all times!
  • For best results, have your veterinarian monitor your dog's condition.
  • To prevent suffocation, keep this plastic bag out of the reach of pets and children.

This product is fantastic Canine r/d is an excellent weight loss diet. My dog finds it palatable andhas loss 90 % off her reccomended weight in less than 6 months. I am the head technician at my clinic and this is a food I commonly recommend for my patients November 21, 2013
Just right My pup was a little overweight then he got sick this product help control his blood sugar and as trim him down to where he should be. October 25, 2013
I didn't beleive this food would work My bulldog has protein losing enteropathy and my vet recommend Hill's® Prescription Diet® r/d. My first thought was with the protein losing enteropathy he lost 25 pounds, he didn't need to lose any more weight he was very sick and could not keep any food in him, he would eat and 10 minutes later we would have to run outside. We then tried Hill's® Prescription Diet® r/d and within 3 days he was holding his food and didn't have to run to the bathroom! In the 7 months since we have been using the Hill's® Prescription Diet® r/d he has gained all the weight back he lost. There is no cure for protein losing enteropathy but at least he can maintain it with this food. Thank you Hill's for making a food that the protein is broken down enough that my bullies body doesn't have to break it down. August 22, 2013
Great really is assisting my Sarah in losing weight. I am so grateful that Hill's, engage in the sale of products that enable longer living and better lives for our pets. My black lab Sarah really loves this food. Prior, to buying Sarah from a breeder, I had another lab (Cotton) that was on prescription diet for almost 11 years, but a different brand. Thanks Hill's for exceeding in the sale of great products. We all love our pet and your food enable us to love them longer. July 2, 2014
My cocker spaniel lost 11 lbs on r/d diet After trying multiple types of dog food, our vet recommended Hill's prescription diet weight loss and it worked! Our 12 year old Lucky lost about 11 lbs and is more active than she's been since she was a pup. We buy the food from our vet and it comes in large bags that are more expensive than other dog food. It's oftentimes hard to afford such a big bag all at once, but we do it because it works. She is now 31 lbs rather than the old sluggish 42 she weighed before she was on this diet food. She loves cup in the morning and one at night. June 15, 2014
My dog likes the product as long as I dampen it with warm water. This is a good product but quite expensive. We couldn't afford it if we had more than one dog. Also, this product doesn't seem to satisfy his hunger for very long. We have had to split his portions so he eats more often without increasing the quantity of food he eats, Also, you need to offer better coupons, particularly because you have recently increased the price by more than $5 for the large bag. My dog can't get enough. My Rottie really enjoys the food. In fact, when it nears feeding time, I swear she lets me know, in her way, that it's time. She eats in the am and pm and I'm sure if I fed her in between, she would gobble it up. April 30, 2014
Jack loves it! Jack has lost almost 1 pound but seems a little pricey for us seniors on a budget. April 27, 2014
