Hill's® Prescription Diet®
r/d® Canine Weight Loss-Low Calorie with Chicken

Weight reduction for overweight dogs.

Almost 50% of the pet population is overweight. Even a little extra weight can lead to serious health problems. Extra weight can reduce play time, impact mobility and affect the general health of your dog. Factors contributing to weight gain include age, lack of exercise and overfeeding.

Many commercial pet foods are loaded with salt and fat, which improve the taste but also have dramatic effects on your dog's weight and overall health. Along with frequent physical exercise, choosing the right food plays a very important role in helping dogs reach their proper weight.

At Hill's, nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutritin especially formulated to reduce dogs' body fat by 22% in two months, while keeping him or her satisfied.

Feeding Guide

Daily Feeding Guide:

Important Feeding Information

  • These amounts are a starting point only. Determine the amount to feed based on TARGET WEIGHT rather than the current weight. Your dog may need less or more food to safely lose weight. Adjust as needed. If you are unsure or if you are not feeding this product for weight loss, ask your veterinarian.
  • Mix increasing amounts of your dog's new food with decreasing amounts of the old food over a 7-day period.
  • Prescription Diet® formulas are available in a wide variety of dry foods and treats for your dog's unique needs and canned foods with delicious flavors your dog will love. When using with canned food and treats, decrease the amount of dry food to avoid overfeeding. Supplementation with other foods or treats is unnecessary and may decrease the effectiveness of the food.
  • Keep fresh water available at all times!
  • For best results, have your veterinarian monitor your dog's condition.
  • To prevent suffocation, keep this plastic bag out of the reach of pets and children.

My Pet is holding her weight on this Product. My Pet is doing very well on this Prescrption Diet RD. April also likes the taste. My Dog is still holding her same weight after losing 3 lbs. since we started her 3 Years ago. It is expensive but if you use the coupons it makes it more affordable. Coupons are hard to get because they are really strict on how many you can print out in one year 3. My Husband and I are both Seniors and are retired which makes us on a limited income but they don't seem to care. You either pay for the food @ their price or go without. Just wish they would allow us more Coupons so we can afford to keep our Dog on it.We might have to consider changing to a Cheaper brand that we can afford :-(. Our Pet Lasha Apso is 11 years old. My dogs did lose weight. RD is very expensive. It takes too long to get coupons. The $7.00 off coupon is about what I have to pay for the taxes on this food at the vet. More coupons please. September 30, 2014
This product really works in promoting weight loss for your dog. Before I realized it my tiny Shitzu was weighing a whopping 27 pounds! She had the broad shoulders of a bull dog and waddled, barely able to walk outside. I started her on the RD Diet dog food and it took about a year for her to reach her slender figure weight of 14 pounds. And she has maintained it for over 4 years. She now has a very tiny waistline and can run and keep up with my other four dogs. I am sure this food has extended her lifespan and have recommended to others. Although it may seem costly it really is not to bad as the servings are smaller and it swells almost to 3 times it's size. I suppose this helps your dogs belly feel full. And her coat of hair is so shiny and soft now....... February 13, 2014
This food is enjoyed by both my Labradors! My oldest Labrador has had ACL replacements in both legs. She can't carry any extra weight and it's very important that she eat well. The surgical vet recommended Science Diet Prescription for her several years ago and that's all she eats. I also have another lab whose 4 years old and she gets this, too. They both love it and I feel good that they're getting a healthy diet. February 26, 2013
maintainex weight I have been using this for a couple years as recommended by my vet but we hoped for a weight loss and have only maintained the same weight. But most likely my dog would have continued to gain on any other food. She is lazy and probably another reason for no loss. She likes the food but wants to eat more than the recommended amount. R/D Canine My senior dog has been on this food for several years and is doing really well. He loves the chicken flavor. Highly recommend this food. July 26, 2014
About thi coupon I was buying this excellent product to my dog for 2 years, but this is very expensive for me , and only one time I got the coupon for that, I think that you have to more flexibility with the customer about the coupon , thanks July 22, 2014
my dog loves it My dog was overweight by 4 lbs. My vet recommended I try this food. My dog has lost the 4 lbs. and is more active. My dog, Jack, is now on a maintenance and loves this as a treat.p July 23, 2014
