Digestive Health Support

Dietary indiscretion, food allergies, or lack of digestive enzymes can affect your dog's digestive health. Efficient digestion is essential for your dog to be able to build and repair tissues and obtain energy, and for these reasons it is important to feed a food that is formulated to help support digestive health.

At Hill's, nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutrition especially formulated to help manage dogs with digestive health problems. Due to its easily digestible ingredients, Prescription Diet® i/d® may also be helpful for pets recovering from gastrointestinal upset and routine surgery.

Feeding Guide

Daily Feeding Guide:

Important Feeding Information

  • Cover and refrigerate unused portion.
  • These amounts are a starting point only. Your dog may need less or more food to maintain proper weight. Adjust as needed. If you are unsure, or if you are feeding Prescription Diet i/d Canine to a puppy, ask your veterinarian.
  • With your veterinarian's approval, mix increasing amounts of your dog's new food with decreasing amounts of the old food over a 7-day period.
  • Prescription Diet formulas are available in a wide variety of dry foods and treats for your dog's unique needs, and canned foods with delicious flavors your dog will love. Supplementation with other foods or treats is unnecessary and may decrease the effectiveness of the food. When using with dry food and treats, decrease the amount of canned food to avoid overfeeding.
  • Split the recommended daily amount into smaller portions and feed throughout the day.
  • Keep fresh water available at all times!
  • For best results, have your veterinarian monitor your dog's condition.

Saved my dog! Our dog Stinky LOVES Hills Prescription i/d canine. She patiently waits every morning for her can of food! I know Stinky isn't a tradtional name, but she picked it, when I found her as a puppy while serving in Iraq, it was the only thing she would answer to. We were able to bring her home and adopt her, last year, while she was staying overnight at a kennel, she was viciously attacked, and nearly died from her internal injuries. Once she was home from the vets office, she couldn't digest regular dog food she was eating, our vet suggested the i/d, as this is what she was given during her inpatient stay, and to keep her on it long term. This food has really made huge improvements in her, she is just as happy and healthier then she was the first day I found her! Being that she is so unique and very special to us, we are very grateful to Hill's for having this food that she can eat daily and keep her healthy. June 13, 2013
Hills Prescription ID Dog Food is the Best I have a female Shih Tzu and the first 9 months of her life was awful. Every food I tried she would get sick on and started losing weight. Finally, I got a new Vet and he suggested trying Hills Prescription Diet ID canned dog food. She immediately loved it and best of all, she didn't get sick any more. She is now a happy, healthy 8 year old and I thank you for making the only food she has eaten these past 8 years. I also just took on another dog with stomach problems and he too will eat nothing but your Hills Prescription Diet ID canned dog food. Sincerely , Cheryl June 3, 2014
Canned ID A few months ago our 9 year old German Shepherd Dog Shadow came down with Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis. The symptoms were horrible as he was bleeding fairly heavy. I rushed him to his veterinarian who quickly treaded Shadow. Fortunately with the proper treatment and quick response he recovered just fine. Along with IV's and medicine his recovery went very well. Our vet recommended Prescription ID for his sensitive stomach and we have been feeding him that with Hills Sensitive Stomach dry every day since and he has been fine. He used to have problems with loose stools and since changing him to this diet hi stools are fine and no more gas. Thanks to our Vet and Hills for Shadows good health June 29, 2013
Best food for Yorkies Our 6.5 lb Yorkie Snickers developed a very sensitive stomach which would act up for unknown reasons and we'd take him to the vet. This always cost $1,500+ until the vet suggested we put him on Hills ID wet and dry. He's been on it for a year without one problem. He's been very healthy and active and he loves his food, both wet and dry, which we use as treats. He also gets 1/2 tbs of cooked yam in his meals for added gastrointestinal health per the vet. I highly recommend this food for any small dog and for any dog with dietary issues. July 11, 2014
Helped my dog so much My dog had empty stomach syndrome since he was a puppy. My vet recommended this Hill's product and my dog has rarely been sick since. He love the taste and I was so relieved when his vomiting, etc. stopped. Thank you Hill's. July 23, 2014
Like a puppy again! We tried many different brands of wet food but Rosie's stomach was just not right. She would cycle between diarrhea and constipation. The vet finally suggested we try Hill's® Prescription Diet® i/d® Canine Gastrointestinal Health wet food. Rosie, who is 10 yrs. old, is doing so well on this diet, she acts like a puppy again. Tummy's Best Friend I have 2 miniature schnauzer children. One has had stomach problems that I believe began at birth. She is also a very picky eater. We tried many different dog foods. Our vet recommended science diet id. We have not had any problems with her stomach since we started using it and she seems to love the taste. Our other furry child is allergic to everything and will eat anything. We are also feeding her the id formula. This has worked out great for both. It may seem a little pricey, but when you are not taking your dog to the vet all of the time for stomach problems, you are saving money in the long run. I would highly recommend this food to any one. Great Product Both our French rescue bulldogs are on this product. Its been a life saver for them. Only which that there were coupons available for this product. Also a easy pull tab lid like in the cat products would be a great added feature making it easier to use. April 14, 2014
