Adverse reaction to food.

Food allergy and intolerance are potentially serious problems that can result in sensitive or irritated skin, coat and ear conditions or even gastrointestinal upset. Dogs that have a food allergy or intolerance, also called adverse reactions to food, typically experience an abnormal response to the protein in the food. If your dog suffers from adverse reaction to food, it is even more important to feed the right food.

At Hill's, nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutrition especially formulated to help manage your dog's dietary sensitivity and help reduce the possibility of adverse reactions to food.

Feeding Guide

Daily Feeding Guide:

Important Feeding Information

  • These amounts are a starting point only. Your dog may need less or more food to maintain proper weight. Adjust as needed. If you are unsure, ask your veterinarian.
  • With your veterinarian's approval, mix increasing amounts of your dog's new food with decreasing amounts of the old food over a 7-day period.
  • Prescription Diet® formulas are available in a wide variety of dry foods and treats for your dog's unique needs, and canned foods with delicious flavors your dog will love. Supplementation with other foods or treats is unnecessary and may decrease the effectiveness of the food. When using with canned food and treats, decrease the amount of dry food to avoid overfeeding.
  • Keep fresh water available at all times!
  • For best results, have your veterinarian monitor your dog's condition.
  • To prevent suffocation, keep this package out of the reach of pets and children.

allergies My dog does not enjoy the taste. She has lost >9 lbs since eating this. However she has to due to allergies.(does work for her allergies) I do not see how the cost can be justified. May 13, 2013
This product works! I use both the canned and dry Z/D and it has certainly solved my dog's gi issues. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. He eats 3 cans /day and 5 cups of dry /day. April 9, 2013
Changed her Life My Sweet Shih Tzu has had some health problems all her life although she has stayed happy and healthy and no longer has vommitting issues since starting only Z/D products and hypo. allergy treats per our vet. She has eaten only these products for over 13 years and is a Happy 15 1/2 year old senior who Love her food! Thanks Hills ! She love you and so do I February 26, 2013
great for my dog, but it is expensive It is difficult to explain why this dog food is so good without describing the medical condition that it alleviates, but that is against the review guidelines. So I will just say my dog suffered for 11 years before we were finally given a prescription for this food, and now he is healthy and happy for the first time in his life. And he loves the taste of the dry food - he actually prefers it over the canned, so that saves me some money. My only complaint is the cost of this food, but since the results are so wonderful, I'll live with the cost. December 13, 2012
ZD Dry This food is great. Lulu loves the taste of the canned ZD. I tried giving her the dry but because she is so small the kibbles are too big for her try to chew. Lulu was put on ZD because she tested positive for allergies to wheat, rice, corn, milk, and beef. She has envionmental allergies also but she doesn't scratch near as much as she used to.
