Rated 5 out of 5 by Huge Improvement! I have an almost 2yr old Lab mix puppy who is a Distemper survivor. When we brought Sophie home at 7 months old, she was unable to stand or walk due to the neurological symptoms. Within a month, she learned how to walk again but developed epilepsy as yet another effect of the disease. Sophie is on 2 different medications to control her seizures, but was still very hypersensitive to touch, sound, or stress and was easily overstimulated. She constantly had her tail tucked, and would flinch away from my hand if I tried to pet her. After talking with her vet, we decided to give B/D a try. The change has been tremendous. Sophie has done a 180 on her behavior. Her tail is no longer tucked, and she no longer shies away from a pat on the head. Instead, she is now the first to greet me at the door when I come home. She runs up with a wagging tail and jumps up to say hello. She seeks out attention now, and is no longer so easily overstimulated. While this food does come with a hefty price tag, its results have been well worth the price. Sophie doesn't seem to find this food as tasty as her previous formula, but does clean it up each time. I'm very satisfied with this food. November 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My dog loves the food! My King Charles Cavalier Spaniel (Heather) has had gastrointestinal problems from when she was a puppy. As a result, my vet recommended Hills Science Prescription. As long as I keep Heather on this diet, she has no problems. It's a wonderful product, and I highly recommend it. March 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product really works for dementia in dogs! I've never written a review but thought it important to write one on this product. If you're researching this product, I know you have serious concerns for your furry friend's behavior. This product really, really works! After only two days I noticed a marked improvement in his nightly behavior. Several months ago, my 9 year old Golden started having seizures (presumably a brain tumor). Several weeks later his evening behavior showed signs of dementia (Sundowners). He would pace, frantic panting, getting lost behind furniture and staggered walk. He was no longer sociable with me or my other dog. After 6 days now, these symptoms are almost gone. Because of the meds for his seizures, he's not as active as he once was - but I'll take it. For those who have issues with the 1st ingredient being whole grain corn -- I have always fed my dog the highest quality dog food (& most expensive) but he still ended up with a brain tumor and dementia! This product really has worked for my dog. I hope it will work for yours too. November 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product provided outstanding results fast!!!! I have a 15 1/2 year old mini daschund who was diagnosed with canine dimentia also called CDS. It began with her getting confused and going to the wrong side of the door, getting her days and nights confused and wandering aimlessly throughout the house. Recently her cognitive health declined and she began to get worse. She became less repsonsive, would seem to be spaced out and appear lost in normal surroundings and she began to get stuck in corners or in front of things and not know how to turn around and get out or realize that she could just walk away. My vet suggested I try the the B/D dog food. All of my dogs eat Scient Diet food and 2 of them eat the W/D by Hill's due to issues with their weight. I had my doubts as to the results but after only 2 days of being on the B/D we have seen dramatic results! I am AMAZED!!! She is more responsive and aware of her surroundings. She is sleeping better at night and staying awake more during the day. When she walks to a place where she would have gotten stuck in before she stops and its clear that she is thinking about what to do. She then turns herself around and walks away. I am impressed and will not be feeding her anything else. THANK YOU Hill's! March 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by My Corgi has a new lease on life. Between receiving a B12 injection recently and the new dog food my dog has nearly completely changed. His eyesight and hearing are still problematic but his energy level has greatly increased. He no longer walks into a room wondering why he is there, he is no longer thirsty around the clock (B12 helps with this), he loves to go on walks, and is generally a "different dog." The signs of cognitive decline started when he turned 13 and he s now 13.8. He had the shot a week ago and has been on b/d for a week as well. January 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Elderly dog My 14 year old dog was recently diagnosed with dementia. He began barking at the walks and crying when I'm not home. I did some research on diet an dementia and found this food. After reading about this food, I decided to give it a try. I slowly added it to my dogs food until after about a week, I had completely transitioned him. After approximately one-two weeks, I noticed that he wasn't always crying when I came home, and just a general calm about him. I have to believe that this det most definitely has had a very positive impact n my dogs health. Very glad I purchased this, and I recommend it to anyone looking for good nutrition for their elderly pet! January 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality of Life Improved My 9 year old Chinese Crested dog starting having behavioral issues, such as soiling in the house and howling while sitting in the middle of a room. He started acting more and more confused with every day living situations. My veterinarian recommended I try Hill's B/D and it has made a huge difference in our lives. He no longer sits and howls, asks to go outside again and is altogether a happy dog! And I am a happy owner. Amazing what a diet can do to help with the cognitive function of our pets to help enrich the last years of their life. September 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by The only product that doesn't cause digestive issues This is the only product I've found that doesn't give my dog diarrhea. It is very expensive though. He also refuses to eat the food dry unless he is REALLY hungry, which then gives him diarrhea again because he waited too long between meals. To get him to eat it regularly, I have to mix moist food with it which makes feeding him even more expensive. It also isn't very convenient to have to buy it from the vet's office. Since it is so expensive, the vet doesn't carry large bags of it and has to special order it for me. May 25, 2014
