Hill's® Prescription Diet®
g/d® Feline Early Cardiac-Healthy Aging

For the nutritional support of senior cats.

As cats age, they may require food designed to help reduce nutrient excesses that could be harmful to their system. For example, high levels of sodium, phosphorus and protein can cause increased workload in the kidneys and heart.

Kidneys are very important to the health of your cats because they remove waste substances from the blood and maintain the normal balance of fluid and minerals within the body. Once kidney damage occurs, the consequences are usually irreversible.

The heart is the most important organ in you pet's body, and factors such as age or weight may affect its function. Poor heart health can affect your cat's lifestyle and mood.

Because the food your cat eats plays an important role in his or her overall health and well-being, at Hill's, nutritionists and veterinarians developed clinical nutrition especially formulated to support your older cat's kidney and heart for overall health.

Feeding Guide

Daily Feeding Guide:

Important Feeding Information

  • These amounts are a starting point only. Your cat may need less or more food to maintain proper weight. Adjust as needed. If you are unsure, ask your veterinarian.
  • With your veterinarian's approval, mix increasing amounts of your cat's new food with decreasing amounts of the old food over a 7-day period.
  • Prescription Diet® formulas are available in a wide variety of dry foods and treats for your cat's unique needs, and canned foods with delicious flavors your cat will love. Supplementation with other foods or treats is unnecessary and may decrease the effectiveness of the food. When using with canned food and treats, decrease the amount of dry food to avoid overfeeding.
  • Keep fresh water available at all times!
  • For best results, have your veterinarian monitor your cat's condition.
  • To prevent suffocation, keep this plastic bag out of the reach of pets and children.

Great diet for renal failure cats My cat loved this diet, lived 5 years past her diagnosis. Her values were stable, she preferred this diet over any other kidney diet of any brand. Thank you for the time I had with her December 19, 2013
My cats barely eat this Due to the my aging cat Micetro with CRF he is forced to eat a prescription diet. We first tried the KD that he did not eat at all then switched to the GD and thankfully he eats it somewhat. Likes the wet food better. Also, I printed out the coupons a while ago and misplaced them, when I went back to the site to reprint I was told I used my quota. Not only am I paying top dollar for prescription diet that my cats hardly like, I can't even get a coupon. Might end up changing vets if there are no other food options. July 9, 2014
Finicky cat likes it Like many cats, mine has a mind of his own. Getting Buddy to accept a new cat food (even though it will help him live longer) took some creativity. Mixing it with his old food and then, slowly decreasing the amount of the old food until he was eating the Prescription food 100% worked. He enjoys it. I feed my cat twice a day. As an added treat, once a day I include a small bowl with a heaping teaspoonful of the canned Prescription food. He looks forward to that. I am extremely pleased with your product and appreciate that you frequently offer money-saving on-line coupons. May 4, 2014
Would be nice if it were palatable.... My veterinarian suggested this for my geriatric cat. He refused to eat it. I ended up feeding it to the ferals. I was disappointed because I feel that it should have been palatable, and I know this diet would prolong my old guy's life. I went back to Hill's Age Defying, hopefully it is just as good for geriatric felines. February 14, 2014
It's helping prolong my cat's life My vet is prescribing Prescription Diet and it's helping my cat live despite some health problems. February 5, 2014
Healthy, but small bags This food has done very well to maintain or improve our cats' health. However, with 3 cats, the the price of the small bags may soon become prohibitive. December 18, 2013
