Hill's® Ideal Balance™ Grain Free Gourmet Venison & Potato Recipe
Nothing artificial in here!
My dog absolutely loved this!! We don't give him canned food every day, it's more of a treat in his dry food every couple of days. I always read the ingredients on every label because he has food sensitivities, but I can happily say that there is nothing artificial in this can of food. The main ingredient is venison, no by-product here! Also, there are no grains which is great for sensitive stomachs, but it's loaded with veggies, vitamins and minerals. I may have to break down and give him this more than just a few times a week now. This is a very good and quality made product that my dog and I both love. Thank you Hill's.

Very, very good!
Wow!!!! My little dog really enjoyed this. She always likes Ideal Balance can dog foods, but I do not give her can food every day. She always has Ideal Balance dry food available to her, can food is a treat for her every couple of days. The Gourmet Venison & Potato has become her new favorite can food! by far! She absolutely loves it, thank you Hills! I love that it is sooo good for her.

WE ARE NEW TO WET FOOD
This was our first go at wet food, my girls loved it. I think they'll be alternating wet and dry from now on.

My dog liked this as well, and it may have been because of the variety/flavor that he'd not had before.

Another winner in the Ideal Balance line!
I previously tried the Hills Ideal Balance Grain Free Slow-Cooked Chicken Recipe and was very impressed, given that my little one has sensitive digestion, especially when it comes to wet food.
As great as the result was with the chicken formula, I was still wary to try the venison, because for some reason, while I know venison is an alternative protein for dogs who have allergies toward the norm (e.g. chicken, lamb, salmon, etc.) venison was deemed a protein that my dog just couldn't handle in general. I'd tried it as a wet food and as a dry, all to no avail. But the fact that this is yet another wet food in the Ideal Balance line that's pate, and with this one being venison, I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's not the actual protein source that my dog couldn't handle, but perhaps the way the food was formulated?
Either way, very very impressed with the Ideal Balance canned food line, and will definitely recommend to all other pet parents that I know!

Yummy in my pups tummy
My dogs scarfed this down! I mixed it with some dry dog food and they both made such a mess because they spit out the dry food and just ate the canned food. They seemed very content after eating it as well. The food had a pleasant smell for my human nose, not too strong or overpowering like some foods can be, which made me happy. Overall very pleased :)

Fantastic wet food for picky eaters!
My dog loves all of the Hill's canned food diets. She's on a Hill's dry food but I use wet food as a treat and to encourage her to eat regularly, as she is a bit of a picky eater. I regularly use Hill's Gourmet Puppy Chicken Entree, but these Ideal Balance canned meals are truly the ultimate wet food. I can honestly say I've been tempted to try a taste myself they look so appetizing (it's literally big chucks of meat and a veggie mix in gravy) and my dog gobbles them up. She loves the gamey flavor of the venison variety, but I'd recommend them all to anyone who wants to treat their dog to a special meal or improve their dog's appetite!

Different flavor combination
My little dog loved the wild venison taste and never had a problem finishing what was in in his bowl. I liked the fact it was a different taste/flavor combination than what I have seen on the market. I did think it was a bit dry and the picture of the product on the can looks as if the food comes in chunks when it is actually ground. I appreciate the opportunity to try and review these products. Thank you.

Not their favorite
I offered this to both my schnauzer and chihuahua after taking up their dry food about halfway through a meal when offering this. My goal in this was to see how they felt about it compared to the ideal balance dry food. While both ate this, I've seen them more eager with different canned food before than they were with this. I suspect that some other canned foods include less healthy ingredients or additives to tempt the dogs. All in all, however, neither had any stomach issues, more common bowel movements or unusual stool. I would recommend this for owners needing a canned option but always tend to prefer to keep a pet who can eat dry food on dry food.

Tried & liked.....
As my dog has grown older, it seems that he favors alittle wet food mixed in with his dry food for his nightly dinner. I found this food to be alittle dryer than most, perhaps due to the fact it was grain free. The company states it is not recommended for dogs 7+ years! but at 11 years old my dog truly enjoyed it.
