When it comes to cats, not all foods are created equal. Some kitten foods, in fact, can be quite harmful. While it is always best to only feed your cat foods which have been specifically formulated to meet her nutritional needs, if you choose to occasionally offer your pet a taste of what you're eating, it is important to avoid the following foods:
- Chocolate: Harmful to all cats — even in small quantities
- Onions: Can cause anemia
- Dairy products: Can cause diarrhea in lactose-intolerant cats
- Bones from meat, poultry and fish: May splinter and stick in the throat, cut the intestine or break teeth
- Fats from meats: Can cause intestinal upset
